Competitive Program

Mountain Shadows Gymnastics offers competitive training to female gymnasts from Provincial 1 to National Level. Currently, the girls train and compete with the Mountain Shadows team. Training hours range from 8–12 hours weekly at a cost between $180–$250 on a 12 month basis. Gymnasts training occurs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday evenings with Friday training at 3:30–6:30 p.m. involving all gymnasts in conditioning and dance.

All competitive members of the club fall under the jurisdiction of the parent organization (MSAA) and enjoy considerable assistance in fees, uniforms, social activities, and pictures to name a few areas.

Gymnasts train in groups of 5 or 6 and are coordinated by coaching teams of 2–3 coaches and compete inter-provincially and regularly in many provincial meets. During the 2006–7 season, Mountain Shadows gymnasts were Provincial 2/3 Southern Alberta team champions, Provincial 2 Jurassic Classic team champions, Surrey Provincial 3 team winners, obtained individual 1st AA placements in North Shore (Vancouver), Surrey, BC, Victoria, BC, and hold 9 all around and event championships in the 2007 Provincial championships in Grand Prairie.

Mountain Shadows hosts the large Mountain Magic Meet in May and in 2007 is preparing for Alberta Winter Games trials and will be represented in the Aloha Meet in Honolulu, Hawaii.
