December 4, 2011

Hello Competitive Directors and Coaches,

We are excited to invite your gymnasts to our twelfth annual Mountain Magic Invitational Gymnastics Meet in Okotoks, Alberta.  We have a very enthusiastic and energetic parent body that have already gathered in order to prepare for the meet with an aim to provide a positive experience for the anticipated 250 plus athletes and their coaches. Our meet with run Friday April 27, 2012, with one evening session, Saturday April 28, 2012 with three sessions and a possible team competition – dependant on judge’s availability, and Sunday April 29, 2012 with three sessions. The last session on Sunday is scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm thus allowing traveling team’s sufficient time to arrive home at a reasonable time. Consistent with the past couple of years we will once again be utilizing the Centennial Arena as our venue. This venue provides great viewing and comfortable seating for spectators as well as a large well-lit area for athletes and coaches.

-We will again this year offer U7, U8 and U9 categories along with Provincial Levels 1-5.
-For safety reasons all gymnasts in the underage categories (U7, U8, U9) will vault with stacked blocks only (NO vault table) and to their backs.
-Medals are awarded to the top 3 girls in each event with ribbons for 4th to 8th place.
-All-Around medals will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place gymnasts and ribbons
for 4th to 8th place.
-Team awards will also be given out after the final session on Sunday to the top 3 teams participating.
-The Team award is determined by the top 5 A.A. athlete scores from a minimum of 3 different provincial levels.
- Awards for the potential team competition yet to be determined

Each participant will receive a goody bag and a snack after they are finished competing.

To ensure your team is not disappointed please register early WITH PAYMENT as many groups fill up fast with some groupings filling prior to the registration deadline last year.
This year we will have an early entry fee of $95.00 for those gymnasts registered and paid prior to March 1st, 2012.
All registrations and entry fees received after March 1st 2012 will be $110.00 per athlete.
Final registration and fees deadline is March 27, 2012.
Refund requests after March 27th, 2012 will only be considered upon receipt of a medical certificate for a withdrawn athlete and will be subject to a $20.00 administration fee.

If your club has attended previously we know your coaches and athletes will want to be in Okotoks this April 27th, 28th and 29th to compete once again.  For those who haven't attended our meet it's time for your club to 'Experience the Magic'.

Follow this link to get the club entry form for completion and submission. In lieu of individual consent/waiver forms this year it is inferred that by registering and paying for your athletes that the parent(s) of the athletes are consenting to have their child participate in the Mountain Magic Invitational gymnastic competition and that in the event of an emergency they authorize medical treatment as may be required.  It is understood that whenever possible the parent will be contacted and informed of the problem/treatment and prognosis. The parent(s) understand that all possible safety precautions will be taken by Mountain Shadows Athletic Association and its volunteers to keep competitors safe, however in consideration of the registration and payment for registration in the 2012 Mountain Magic Invitational that the parent(s) waive and release all rights and claims for damages which they may have or which may hereafter accrue to them against Mountain Shadows Athletic Association, Mountain Shadows Recreation Centre, the owners and/or operators of the facility in which the said competition is being held, and any of their employees, agents or assigns in respect to injuries which the athlete sustain in the course of participation in the said competition including activities not directly related to competing therein, and travel to or from the said facility.  In addition, in lieu of individual Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act forms this year it is also inferred that by registering and paying for your athletes that the parent(s) of the athletes are consenting to allow sounds and images (video and still) pictures to be published or aired in a variety of locations, including audio tapings on television, radio and newspaper, as well as Mountain Shadows Recreation Centre Website and publications.

We have set a tentative schedule of events based on prior year registrations and will e-mail a confirmation of the final schedule and athlete list the beginning of April.
